Ranch Round Up: Spring 2021 Edition

By March 30, 2021News, Home page

The snow is starting to thaw and temperatures are rising — evidence that spring is on its way.  Looking back, winter went by in the blink of an eye. And now, we’re ready for spring. For many reasons, this past year has felt like a blur. But now we’re asking ourselves, “where did winter go?” Neither here nor there, here we are — in the middle of spring break!

Winter LessonContrary to this seasonal rite of passage, we’re not actually taking a break. Instead, we’re working tirelessly behind the scenes to get ready for our next session, recapping and debriefing from the winter session. Thankfully, winter was a success for us. We had a handful of snowstorms, the crews plowed snow, and participants got to build snowmen. It was a win-win, overall! As the snow fell, we spent our days in our big riding arena. The show didn’t stop: we had our school groups, individual lessons, and small group lessons. Year-round, it is such a joy to watch everyone improve, learn, and heal. Without a doubt, our work is incredibly gratifying.

Now that we’re on “spring break,” our herd is getting their bi-annual checkups. So far, everyone is checking out with flying colors.

These checkups include dental work, shots, new shoes, and a physical for each horse. Outside of the vet checks, they get spa time!

Finally, as we look ahead to our spring sessions and summer sessions we’re excited for what’s to come. We’ll be riding outdoors more, and the sensory trail will be open soon! Warmer and longer days are ahead. Cow camps will be happening too. On April 15th, the Swiftsure Derby kicks off, and Cowboy Ball will be this summer. More details to come on ticketing and event line-ups!

One final note: Please keep practicing social distancing, wearing your mask, and being mindful of your interactions. So far we’ve been keeping you safe, and you’ve been doing the same for us. Thank you!
