Erin was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska where she fell in love with horses at an early age, “competing” in her first walk/trot lead line barrel race at three. At six she started weekly English riding lessons which then transformed into joining the local 4-H club, volunteering for the therapeutic riding program, and successfully competing in multiple disciplines including Huntseat, Dressage, Saddleseat, and Stockseat. In her late teens she became an intern instructor for her local therapeutic riding program and instructor for Alaska’s Special Olympic Equestrian Team.
Erin attended the University of Wyoming to ride on the Equestrian Show team with her horse Macy. She finished her year by competing at Nationals at the LA Horse Park in Huntseat Equitation before returning to Alaska to finish her Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management, Aviation Management and an Associates in Air Traffic Control. While maintaining a career in Aviation, Erin also stayed busy training her own horses, as well as teaching private lessons, being President of the Alaska Dressage Association non profit organization and Horse Show Manager of the rated summer shows. Finally in 2013 Erin became a certified PATH International Instructor, putting her one step closer to making her passion a full time career. The following summer she instructed at a therapeutic riding program, was head instructor of the Special Olympics Alaska Equestrian Team and the PATH state chair. Erin is very excited to join the Swiftsure team and to continue learning with such an amazing group of people and horses!
