Bellevue, Idaho (May 6, 2016) – Alex Woodard, critically-acclaimed musician and author, will be joined on stage by recording artist Molly Jenson on Memorial Day, May 30, at Whiskey Jacques’, for an incredibly inspiring performance honoring the forty million veterans who have served in the United States Military since 1776. Proceeds will benefit the veterans programs at Swiftsure Ranch.
For The Sender: Love Letters from Vietnam, a nationally touring show based on the book by local Hailey resident Woodard, features songs and stories that revolve around the true, extraordinary letters sent back in time from a daughter in the present to her father during the Vietnam War.
The daughter met Woodard after a performance based on the For The Sender book series and felt compelled to share a box of letters with him she’d found that had been buried in a closet for decades. That box of letters and the daughter’s response to them became the basis for Love Letters from Vietnam.
“The moment I read ‘Dear Sergeant Fuller, You won’t know me for another two years, but I am your daughter,’ I knew this collection of letters back in time between a daughter and her soldier father was something special. I found a really important, inspiring story that needed to be told in the spaces between the words,” says Woodard.
Proceeds from this Memorial Day performance will support veteran programs at Swiftsure Ranch, where the well-being of people with disabilities is encouraged through equine therapies and activities.
